Model Rail Forum, Noch, their UK distributor Gaugemaster and Hornby Magazine are presenting a British Model Railway Diorama competition open to all members of Model Rail Forum. You are invited to enter the competition and build an A4 size diorama depicting a British railway scene in any scale and of any epoch using at least two Noch scenery products*.

Prizes:

1st prize is a Noch Gras-Master & Hornby Magazine Yearly subscription

4 Runners up each receive a Noch Scenery Starter Kit

* Other scenery products, bought commercially or scratch built may be used in addition to the two Noch products.

This diorama competition is to be built on a British railway theme. There must be rails in the diorama and there must be some evidence that it is a British scene.

You can build the diorama in any scale, it can be simple or complex - that is your choice. It can be set in any epoch, old or modern. You may include a locomotive, rolling stock or other vehicles. You diorama may be static or animated. If your diorama is electrically animated or illuminated, it must use battery power and the batteries must be included within the A4 dimensions of the diorama. Perhaps put them in a building or under the ground level.

The dimension of the diorama is A4 size - 29cm x 21cm with a maximum height of 21cm. The diorama may have a back scene on one long side and one short side of the diorama. Back scenes are not obligatory though. Back scenes may not be higher than 21cm. See the diagram below. No element on the diorama must protrude from the A4 size of the base.

Enter and you could win one of the following cool prizes:

Noch Gras-Master,

5

Hornby Magazine subscription, value £40

Noch Scenery Starter Kit, value: £20

You may use any two different Noch scenery products, in any scale. These items could be scatter, grasses, trees bushes or flowers. Buildings, characters or people, animals or accessories.

All items should be secured to the diorama. If your diorama is selected to be sent in items that are not secured may get damaged. If there are loose items (a railway wagon for example), wrap it securely and give instructions to where it should be placed on the diorama.

How to enter:

  • Build your diorama. You have until the end of January 2009 to complete the model.

  • Photograph it. Take some good photos of your model using good light. Taking the photos outdoors gives the best results if you don't have any suitable indoor lighting.

  • Send in the photos by email (see rules below for the address) together with some details of your diorama. A name perhaps, a description of how you built it, the location, era and any other particulars that you feel may be relevant. Please indicate which Noch products you have used. If there is rolling stock, please indicate what it is.

  • Include your Model Rail Forum ID together with your full name, your age and address.

  • The judges will select 5 finalists. We will contact the finalists and request that they send their dioramas in to us. Those 5 dioramas will then be photographed and published in Hornby Magazine and put on display at various shows during 2009.

  • From the 5 finalists one overall winner will be selected.

Prizes:

As an additional benefit, we are now offering the new Gras-Master ® Nozzle that is ideally used for the two following applications: First, it is ideal for flocking small areas, e. g. you can apply long grass to even small sections. Secondly, it is ideal for flocking areas that are difficult to reach. The new Nozzle is also available separately for everyone who has already purchased our Gras-Master®.
