Hi All,

Me & Big Dave are looking for a supplier of latex glue as opposed to PVA glue, the largest Copydex i can find is 1 litres although this wont go far.

Has anyone found a five litre or similar bottle of adhesive with the same properties as Copydex, a link to the supplier would be appreciated as looking in ironmongers / carpet shop / DIY sites draws a blank or small bottles of 500ml.

Hi Nick,

Morleys JM 600 Latex Adhesive may be worth a look.

It comes in 5 litres and one supplier is Flooring Equipment Direct at about £19.00. www.flooringequipmentdirect.co.uk/

Someone once mentioned to me that it is the same as Copydex but I cant be certain so you would need to check it out.

Trust this helps

regards
Ron

I bought 5 litres of JM 600 a while ago. Seems to work the same as Copydex to me.

I got a reasonable size bottle of Copydex from the RANGE (if you have one nearby) I can't remember the price but it was reasonable!

Hi Nick,

From what I read on your posting on Dave,s thread am I correct in thinking that your mix for ballasting is the tried and tested adhesive/water mix but you use Latex instead of PVA.

This may be similar,' Latex Liquid' cat. No. 27583 from Toolstation for use as an admixture to make flooring leveling material more flexible. 5 ltr for £9.22, no carriage if you make your order to over a tenner. If someone gives it a try and finds OK please advise. thumbsup.gif No track laying needed for me at present, but would be interested in results, being flexible, it is 'supposed' to make for quieter running against using PVA. I suspect similar to concoctions sold under various names, 'Noso', 'Wondermend' and 'Copydex', for textile repairs and carpets. Beeman. ps. I also see there is a synthetic bonding styrene butadiene compound that could be used perhaps for similar, No18528 @£17.56/5 ltrs. Anyone in the building trade using who is also a modeller for advice,

?.

Hi

Word of warning, I have recently found some of my copydex that"went off" even though it was a sealed container. It looks fine until you apply it and then it masses into little blobs. It maybe that sitting in the loft in sunlight has turned it or it maybe age.
So if you are buying a lot of it, you may want to bear that in mind if it wont all be used within a few weeks. Then again it could have been, just a bad batch.

Copydex is water based in a loft it my have been hit by frost after the very cold winter we have had. Oil paint is the same it becomes like water and will no stay on the brush, I found that out the hard way.
