I will be in the UK from 17 June 2012 until 15 September 2012. Is anyone aware of model railway exhibitions that may be taking place anywhere in the UK during that time with decent trade representation. My main interest is DCC Continental HO but always look at everthing. I may also spend some time in Germany/France. I have previously visted Warley and Alexander Palace both of which I thought were great.

Peter

You will find a very comprehensive list of all that's happening on the UKModelShops site - a very valuable resource as it lists all the shows and also you can see where there are shops in the areas you will be visiting when you come to UK

The page for events is:

http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/other/events.php/

As the date draws nearer, more events are added, so it's worth checking back - including when you are in the UK.

Very often, the description has a link to the organiser's web page, where there may be further information.

Another thought: Warley and Alexandra Palace are two of the biggest events. Few other events will be this big.

Unfortunately one's gone and the other is too late, the same applies to Chatham (before you arrive)

Thanks all for the responses. I can get to the Home Page of UK Model Shops but none of the links seem to work. My internet appears to be working okay so maybe there is a glitch on their side. Will keep trying, and in any case will take the web address across to the UK with me.

Just tried the links above and they work fine for me - perhaps it takes a long time for the message to get to the bottom half of the world biggrin.gif

A quick look down the list has found the following - I have not actually been to any of these shows and cannot give a specific recommendation

16/17 June Wigan

23/24 June Perth

7/8 July Hartlepool

11/12 Aug Wells

1/2 Sept Blackburn

8/9 Sept Leamingtom Spa (all N Gauge)

8/9 Sept Shipley

8/9 Sept Telford (all O Gauge)

These are only a very small selection of the events listed on UKModelShops and my inclusion here does not imply that other events are not worth visiting - I just picked on a few names I recognised.

Perhaps if you give us a location(s) it might be easier to suggets where to go.

your visit almost perfectly conicides with the summer exhibition break!

I dont know about others but i concider chatham to be the end of the summer season and scaleforum the start of the winter season.

Woking is on the 15th of September but I doubt you will want to spend your last day there and it dosent really compare to Warley or Ally pally.

Why not spend a few days on preserved lines? enjoy the weather.

I plan to do that in any event. Not as optimistic about the weather though. It was quite cold here today - blue sky and only got up to 21 degrees centigrade. Amazing what you get used to. I'm a real wimp when it comes to the cold.
