The couplings for mine were floating loose in the box. Have you removed the foam packing to check? Even so, I prefer to use Bachmann/Hornby straight couplings in preference to Heljan's own cranked ones anyway.

Glad that helped. I missed seeing mine the first couple of times - they are well camouflaged in that foam packing!! wink.gif

Ok I am ready to order the soundtraxx decoder for the model.

The choice is out of 4 different engine sounds, all of which are from 16-cylinder units, 2 are turbo and 2 are not.

Does anyone know if Kestrel had turbo/s fitted or not ??? If you know please reply !

I'll post step by step pics of fitting the speaker/s and decoder.

Kind regards Nick

Decoder and Speakers here.
I am very impressed with the speakers, very solid and heavy magnets, not at all like the flimsy speakers available for the Loksound. We'll soon hear if they sound as good as they look.
I've have started the installation and taken lots of pics of the work so far.

Regards Nick

Installation Complete !

Kestrel ran last weekend on the ECHOS display layout at the Miami Harvest Festival weekend. The sound was very good especially after I found and sealed 2 small holes in the speaker box !. Local interest in the British Loco and the rake of Bachmann mk2's was very cool. (Also I have had no issues with the directional lighting)
