What is called "The Festival of British Railway Modelling" is being held at the Doncaster Exhibition Centre over the weekend of 13/14 February 2010.

I'm honoured to be assisting as an operator on "Alloa" which is a truly excellent OO gauge layout (mid 50's - mid 60's) and intended to be as accurate as reasonably possible, created over 5 years (and still being enhanced) by the Scottish Region Study Group. It has had only one previous outing - at Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow in February 2008 where it won several awards, including the one for best layout voted for by fellow exhibitors. The 31ft x 12ft layout was featured in BRM in the April 2009 issue.

Alloa will return to Glasgow this year at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre over Fri,Sat,Sun 26,27,28 Feb.

If you're at either (or both!) exhibitions, do come and see it and if you feel so inclined, say hello.

Mike

Also looking forward to it.I saw it 2 years ago at the SECC and was very impressed.Looking forward to seeing how it has matured since then. In particular it would be nice to see the yard shunted and have a bit of biz about the layout

Here's my pics of Doncaster ....begining with Mike [aka "60159" helping out on "Alloa"] .... Hi again Mike thumbsup.gif wink.gif

Alloa is an impressive layout, unfortunately,it was too crowded to get a decent shot of the front due to the sheer volume of punters.
The Live Steam had a good crowd around it cool.gif .....well done Adrian ["00LiveSteam"] thumbsup.gif

The rest ...

Finally ....my purchases today

A mint unused Bachy B1 [#1000 - Springbok] .....[£30]

....and an LNER Teak leeper Coach [£8]

Overall, the standard of the layouts was very good ......but secondhand prices were mainly very high ....and it just got toooooo crowded.

best regards

Cheers Terry, thanks for taking the time and trouble to see Alloa and coming to say hello. Thanks for pic - guess I can't hide behind the anonymity of 60159 now!

I read on another thread how it was crowded and difficult to get to see many of the layouts. I have to say i was surprised how busy it was on the Saturday. Sunday, particularly in the morning and late in the afternoon, was quieter.
