I have a model which is 95% complete.

I would like to hear from anyone who has completed a model and is prepared to assist me please.

I have some questions about the boiler cleading and the ashpan.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

The building of Rob Roy was fully described in Model Engineer some decades ago. I have an idea that the building instructions were also published as a book, probably by MAP as they were the publishers of M.E. at the time so maybe a search of ThiefBay might be productive.

If you are REALLY, REALLY serious and I DO mean that, (I have over a hundred years worth to hunt through), then I can probably find the relevant issues for you.

Rob Roy was a well-received model I seem to remember so well worth finishing. You can PM me if you wish.

Jeff

Looks like you didn't get far with this. I was in just the same situation back in May as well. Here's the thread of my journey

Get yourself a copy of the Martin Evans book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rob-Roy-Locomotive-Dockyard-Caledonian/dp/0853441480

and the plans are available here

Hello Pete.

Many thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid the locomotive sits in the garage.

The situation is that I finished the pipework and actually had it running on air, and very satisfying it was too smile.gif

However, unfortunately I haven't been able to steam it.

I contacted the seller but he has been unreliable, and he's a trader in steam locomotives and an engineer!

In the meantime I have a 5" battery powered locomotive on the go and at the moment my interest is in my 00 gauge layout of Kings Lynn passenger station.

I tried to follow your thread on your journey but had an error message.

Would you check it for me please?

Thanks,

Jeff
