Evening all.
Does anybody know if halfords clear lacquer will work to varnish a model painted with phoenix paint? I recently bought an aerosol matt varnish from phoenix and the results were awful, so much so that immediately after I had to clean off with thinner. I've read similar experiences online Thanks |

Hi
I tried Halfords lacquer and i would not advise it. if you want a semi-matt "factory " flnish go to your local Games Workshop and buy Citidel Purity seal. I have used this with Humbrol, Railmatch, Pheonix and Revell enamels and all acrylics. You can varnish a coach or loco with one pass usually so it will not hide detail. Not cheap at £9.50 but wil do at least a dozen models. Before using wipe the model with soapy water to get rid of handmarks and leave to dry. If you want to see some results send me your E-mail address. ATB Ian |

*** Unless they have changed the paint type (solvent type) you do need to be very careful with the citadel clear coat - it definately can craze humbrol enamels and others if applied in other than very gentle, thin coats. It is however a really nice aerosol with a fine spray.
