the pendo looks good but are the coaches shorties or is it just a funny camera angle?

The Scaledale range just seems to get better and better, and those red and white station buildings look very much like NER prototypes.

Regards

John

I must admit that the castle looks better in the flesh than on Hornby's own website. Looks like some more Skaledale will be apperaing on my layout.

That is a taster. My own gallery should be up soon. I have seen it and it is well worth the wait! smile.gif

The castle walls will be very popular and the industrial buildings look as if they have been crafted by Swiss watchmakers. They are incredible.

Happy modelling

The Skaledale range looks fantastic.
The only duffer in the range seems to be the Gasometer. it looks rubbish; but then so does the forthcoming Bachmann N gauge version too.

Look under the front nose of the Pendolino. Nothing there! It looks a bit "toy like" from the photo.

Taking about the pendalino, the train pack comes with a non-working pantograph on the coach where as the extra coach has a working one? I can't recall the real pendo's having 2 pantograph's in use or am I wrong?

Will this mean removing a coach or is there a blanking plate to cover the non working one as per the dapol version.

Thanks Darren

Regarding the Skaledale Gasometer, I think it is based on the one at the preserved gasworks at Fakenham, Norfolk - see the thread elsewhere in the MRF about 'Hornby cooking with gas'.

Also bearing in mind the use of Goathland on the NYMR for some of the current station buildings, the new red/white timber station buildings look rather like those at Grosmont, also on the NYMR.

And the former inaccurately named 'Butty Boat' has at least been renamed just as a 'Canal Boat', which alas could be confused with the new 'Canal Boat' which is more of a canal pleasure cruiser. They'll get it right one day.

darren, no the pendo's dont run with both pantographs up but they can run in either direction with either pantograph raised at full line speed.

the pendo's pantograph is a work of art. i hope hornby get it right.

OK it was just the camera angle! that Pendolino looks great!
And thanks to the SRA being daft we only have to save for a 9 car set and not a 12!!

Thankks Gary.
Great pics

I've got so much news to bring that I will be splitting it up into 4 seperate topics linked to the gallery.

Look out for seperate topics on Bachmann and Graham Farish, Bachmann Ireland, Dynamis and Hornby/Airfix. There will be a link to the gallery in each topic.

Just a tad busy right now on something else so background info will appear at intervals over the next 1-3 days as and when I convert my notes to something readable!

Happy modelling

Gary, Thanks for all of the hard work.

BTW,

Do any of the British Electrics have working pantographs?

Its a wanted poster!

The Dynamis has gone missing!

The man in the picture was last seen being chased out of the London Toy Fair by 10 security gaurds!

Happy modelling
