Hi,

I am planning on buying Hornby class 153 R2758X in North West Trains blue with Northern branding livery DCC on board, its on bargain on ehattons.com for 49 pound and all other class 153s are atleast 67 pounds, any reason why this is cheap? does it have any issues or does it has any flaws in the livery?

Please let me know if you know anything about this particular model.

Thanks in advance.

Bachmann Dynamis DCC controller looks much better than Hornby select, really appreciate your advise guys.

Can you guys please let me know if this is Class 60 Diesel is a good model? and also please let me know which are the other good detailed diesel locomotives that hornby makes.

Thanks a lot for the responses.

I am also planning on getting this class 60 locomotive and may be a class 56 or 50, i am confused whether to get with DCC sound or just DCC ready. I ready on some site that this locomotive is very detailed and the best Hornby offering. Does class 56 and 50s also have good details like the class 60?

http://hornby.com/locomotives-89/r2780xs/product.html

Is it worth spending 100 pound extra for sound?

If i choose to go DCC, can i just buy DCC/DCC sound locomotives and track from england and add a DCC controller from the USA? in this way i do not have to worry about the voltage.

Is Hornby the best model train maker for UK models?

Please advise.

Thanks again to all the people who have taken their valuable time to respond.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and OO guage. I live in the USA and has being collecting Kato N Scale DC trains for around 5 years and also have a small N scale layout.

I love Eurostar, French TGVs and Japanese bullet trains, but the problem with N Scale is they are too small and you really dont get to see the details on the trains. I am visiting London in 6 weeks and will be travelling by Eurostar to Paris so I want to buy a Eurostar set in HO scale, i searched a lot on the internet and the only set i could find is Hornby OO Guage Eurostar train set.

My question to you expert modellers out there in the UK is, how is the quality and detailing of this set? i also looked at Pendalino DCC set but i didnt like the look of the train. I may also buy Class 60/Class 50/Class 56 locomotives (not yet decided whether to get with DCC sound or just vanilla DC), i will buy a Hornby Select DCC controller if i choose to go DCC. Can i use the track that comes with Eurostar set with Hornby DCC? If i go DCC will install decoder in Eurostar.

Please give me some advise on the Eurostar set and the locomotives. Please also let me know where i can buy these in London.

Thanks in advance.
