Hi, Working in the home office during shutdown and decided I need a "playful"layout on the top shelf of the bookcase. That is, something not to complicated, DC not DCC (my main layout is DCC), operationally interesting. I may add scenery such as an old quarry

The Area?

1200mm X 450mm

I was thinking 009 as there are some good little locos coming available
I am too skinflint to buy the Peco 009 layout book plus delivery from the UK at the moment is woeful

Any advice?

OK well I am an OO9er as well as having the big OO layout, so it takes quite a bit of space but a lot less than OO for sure
In this space use Peco setrack 9 inch curves and points
buy a Roco HOe diesel is a great model
Peco L&B wagons
Roco Br 99 is good for the money
use a simple Gaugemaster controller
add 5 gram tyre weights to wagons
use Peco n gauge rail joiner feeders

avoid flexi track
Heljan locos as they need 12 inch curves
bogie stock
avoid dcc for this one

after that enjoy, read my thread and comment if you want to know more
