I have several older Kato HO diesel models. They are well detailed and well made with good paintwork, and with remarkably smooth performance over their speed range. On that basis I would say they are a good choice.

Hi,
I concur with Andrew, above.
I have a couple of dash 9’s by Kato along with half a dozen other actual Kato locos and several Atlas models with Kato drive, they are all excellent runners. I would say that you can’t go wrong with Kato!
It’s a pity for us H0 types they mainly concentrate on N scale but their H0 stuff is exquisite.
