I actually wrote a "How To" on posting pictures hosted by Flickr.
(well actually, more than that as they were specific to each forum they were posted on, but eah were a re-hash of the original!)

Don't mind posting it here on MRF if ok with the admin team??

For this How-To I will go step-by-step to show how to post images hosted by Flickr.

Step 1)

So, we need the URL of the image. in this example, we will be using flickr as the image host.

When you are logged in, you can choose to go to Photostream, Albums or Favourites (shown inside the blue highlight box).

In this example, i will be going to "Albums".

Step 2)

Once on your Albums page, click on the album of choice, in my case, this is "Vehicles" (See below image).

This will open the album, where you will be able to choose the image you want.

For this example, I will be using the trusty old London double decker image, as highlighted by the blue box.

Clicking on the image will take you to the main image page, as shewn below.

Step 3)

When on the image page, as shewn below, you will see some icons to the bottom right hand side of the black background.

To acquire the image code, you will need to click on the curly arrow, as highlighted by the blue box, with a big red arrow pointing to it in the image below.

Step 4)

After clicking on the curly arrow, you will be presented with the following screen..

Simply click on the "BBCode" at the right hand side, as highlighted by the red box in the below image.

Step 5)

After choosing the "BBCode" option, you will be presented with the screen shewn in the below image.

Step 6)

here is where we choose the size of the image.

Simply click on the little black arrow on the right hand side in the lower box (where it reads "Large 768 x 1025" ).

This will bring up the following menu...

here is where you choose the image size and, as above, in this example, I have chosen "Large 768 x 1024" for the size, as highlighted in the red box.

Step 7)

With this done, you will be presented with the following screen...

Step 8)

now, as the image text is automatically highlighted, we simply right click on it and select "Cop" from the little menu that appears.

Step 9)

Return to your message and paste that code in where you want it..

Step 10 )

Almost done, but not quite.

With the flickr URL, there are a few pieces of extraneous text that are not required and here is where we remove them.

Taking the Bus image URL as the example, when pasted into the reply box, it looks like this.

(NOTE: Ignore the underscore in the img and url tags, they merely serve to stop the image being called)

[_url=https://flic.kr/p/f8LvCU][_img]https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7397/9276894848_5ca448f706_b.jpg[/img][/url][_url=https://flic.kr/p/f8LvCU]Vehicles[/url] by [_url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/chopperama/]USER_NAME[/url], on Flickr

The section we need from that mess is the section between the "img" tags, I.E, This bit:

[_img]https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7397/9276894848_5ca448f706_b.jpg[/img]

So, when the "img" code has been properly formatted, we end up with the photo as shewn below.

Something worth noting here, is that it is the "img" letters in the correct order that matter. So, as long as each tag has the three letters I M G in it, it does not matter if these are a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters or a combination of the two in either or both "img" tags, the image will still be called and it will still be displayed smile.gif

Thanks Grifter Guru for your excellent and very helpful step by step guide to posting pictures on this forum from Flickr.

I've succeeded in doing this!! :-) :-)

https://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index...st&p=603810

I'd missed the copy arrow and BBCODE to get the url, and the point about only using the address between img.

Thanks again, very good presentation of how to do this.

Trouble? No trouble at all! I keep a copy on my drive, so it is a simple case of copy and paste. I also keep a copy of my "how to watertmark your images/photo's" on my drive too!.

You would be surprised how many times it has required posting across the various forums I frequent...
