At last....!!!!I hope wacko.gif Here is my take on the plan; REMEMBER I AM NEW TO THIS GAME.... rolleyes.gif

1.The layout is RECTANGULAR, 5,510mm by 2,050mm (let you do the maths,I don't like "new money").

2. It has a centre well..............4280mm by 835mm.

3. so, layout boards will 610mm in width (2ft).

4. the b/boards are 4ftx2ft,inset on a support system similar to Willies layout....

At the top of the diagram is Dover Priory station as in the real thing.Photo later. Bottom of diagram is Dover Town Yard, not the real thing.Photo later.

Ok, The track will be Peco concrete for the main running lines and wood for the yard, code; 100. Pointwork Peco wood code ;100.except for the scissors crossing
which is shinarho code;100.wood. NO SETTRACK will be laid. Will have to decide on the options of the length of points for visual and practicality.
On the upper right of the dia.is a double slip,Ive taken modeller's licence here, as there was a large junction here, called Hawkesbury st.jtn.
It ran off to the night ferry terminal and Dover (Marine)Western Docks Stn. you will see that from a 1937 o/s.plan I will post here.(copyright was paid for).

You will all get the jist of it as "WE" cobble it together, think of it as a "Club Layout"...but.. you don't have to pay sub's, you can visit, comment, nor not, as your whim, if you are local, in the area, or kicking your heel's before waiting for a ferry to France,(take the train), send me a pm in advance and have a brew, time is my own.
Those of you doing a day trip from Aus,n.z.or usa. will be a bit pushed for time as I live closer to France than I do to London....

So back to the .....plot.....Whole layout to be Dcc. It is based at home in my internal garage and boasts central heating(2.rads). No cars allowed.
Am on a budget of 100 per month out of my medical pension,so no deep pockets,...

Ive 2.x 50020. Ecos/esu command stations,

1.will do Priory station and double roundies. 1.will do Town Yard. (over kill?).

also 1.4amp booster (Esu). which will supply points (Richards cobalt's)46. and signals.stn and yard ltg.

Eventually, nasty block detection lmfao.gif or does it go in whilst building (missed that bit)

as Kal (trainsandtrees) has advised,"you can only slave 1 ecos off another. Not run in tandem".(yet).
Yes I have that awful solid 2.5mm house wiring stuff awaiting deployment for the main buss and 7/0.32 for the droppers,2 pairs for every metre length of track..over kill....points, I have a mix of long med.short streamline ones insul.and electro.have yet to fit droppers to all of these.( will practice on old settrack ones.
The layout will.. be run by myself (or grandchildren when older) or anyone who has a mind to turn up,semi/fully computer.operational enventually, yard will stay manual.
OH.!!bye the way,the tight curves, bottom right of dia.are 2nd radius 18in. and are the Dover 10chain curve.you'll see it from the o/s dia and real photos when posted. I do hope there are real drivers out there, who drive this line daily and can throw in.......
Dover Priory is also a "Reversal Station",am sure someone would love to tell us what that is....
In the dim past, Dover had 2 stations and 2 railway companies, now forms a loop, effectively to London, 1 on the"east" of the county (bye-passing those
who live on the Ise of Thanet) Canterbury,Medway Towns,London Waterloo. 1.west of the county,Ashford,Tunbridge Wells,London,Charring Cross.

ok..am off for tea and take/post some photos of what "we" are dealing with, ALL COWARDS are obliged to take 1 step forward, others can cover their eyes.

Ah David, now I see what you are doing, and very impressive it looks as well. Accordingly I look forward to seeing this develop.

Glad to see you're getting the hang of the humour...now about the penguins.

I like the modern photos, and the insurance policy biggrin.gif

Thanks, for your post's.....A1A A1A and 7113.
I also spend time as a volunteer ranger at Samphire Hoe a mile outside Dover, (West-away from the isle of thanet)
The newest part of the uk ,built from the spoilt excavated from the building of the Channel Tunnel.
200-300ft cliffs and train lines on one side, sea and ships on the other and an office to make tea in, the site is owned by Eurotunnel...Google it..most interesting, the construction that is....it has been a nature reserve for about 10 years now and open
to the public.....

Indeed. Each time we've been walking past south foreland lighthouse, my wife's phone tells her she's _in_ France. I thought the Martello towers were supposed to stop that sort of thing?

Definitely will stop some cliff erosion a fair bit of construction.

Interesting read.

"Martello towers were supposed to stop that sort of thing?"

Nope! But yet another History lesson, another time though....
I am sure its triggered by the Thanet Islanders, methinks they maybe decendants of the French.. enough..!!

Must post photos of my decrapide handiwork for others to sleep on and yet others to wake up to on the otherside of this
planet (no NOT Thanet) innocent.gif

Had my tea and Kendal mint cake (said in the tin "to be consumed by penquins only)..???

ok...let hope i don't loose the photos again.......

A question - is that a 74 I see? If so I shall have to take you to task, they only ran on the western section out of Waterloo.

Off to the land of nod now.

That's the reason I put it there to see if anyone WAS taking notice,Was on ebay, delivered yesterday morning.
Just missed buying the 71 he had for sale, but got the Replica MLv.I hope to have all 10 of these in their different liveries.
This is the nearest i will get to steam along with the coal wagons.
I have a couple of photos of the 71s in the Dover yard.the real one that is...
I have read that the men who worked the yard were a breed apart from others as the still original Southern concrete seawall was only the only protection the yard had against the s,w, storms that can batter this coastline.
Is the Isle of Thanet below sealevel...?? innocent.gif
