With the latest release from TrainPlayer Software (version 5.1), the British model railway enthusiast with a Windows computer can run simulated British locomotives and rolling stock on track plans and rail yards from around the U.K. It is virtual model railway modelling, British style.

Is it a sim? Is it a game? Is it a tool to help you design or run your layout?

Take a look a my review and hands-on test using my track plan and layout. Click here for the review.

Let us know if you use TrainPlayer and tell us how you use the software. Version 5.1 is a free upgrade for existing users, so if you have an old copy, check out the new features.

If you try it out, show us what trains you are running. Paste a cropped screenshot of the trains, perhaps something like this:

If you are interested in trying out my layout shown in the review, get the Trainplayer software or the demo and load the layout from the online list of tracks:

The H0e/009 there-and-back line has now been added and there is a little loco on there. Add any train you like and let me know how my layout runs.
