less than 30 minutes as I let the colours merge, again dipping clean water touching paint then thickening up to just paint, I bought the item cheap as damaged in the delivery

Simple little items improve enormously from adding shadows and just thinned black

very dirty but the muddy puddle gives the excuse




the black where the letter goes is the best upgrade

I wish but a selection

Hornby Signalbox I decided to do this and totally got absorbed so no step by step

Hornby derelict signalbox perfectly nice model but it screamed out to me
And it got a make over

Usual culprits
transparent greens more than one for shades
transparent browns more than one for dirt
transparent black and solid/opaque black for dirt
i tan water and a touch of washing liquid into the grooves with the building lent at an angle then ran the black,more lower down,
then black powder to dull it the DCC Concepts pack I won has held out and is still going strong,
green modelling ‘grass’ for the over growth
lift ballast and embed the base so no floating
i mix and hand sprinkle, as a flat uniform colour is much harder to look natural

This is the result of Ernest "Ernie" Prang's efforts to get her back home from Goathland, Heaven only knows how he missed the mobile Command Centre, let alone the re-fuelling pumps! I always said he was too old and slow to stop the bus in time. It took the Wg Co ages to get some engineers to repair the fuel depot.

these are or were run at Goathland and I like the markings

choose a better model makes life easier

at Goathland often seen in town

dirty is usual so don’t forget to add it

choose a breed and copy the markings

are inevitably branded and spray paint is popular

Another popular addition to the fields our trains run past are cows, most of the comments for sheep apply
i cannot reiterate too strongly that models are often far better than the paint job infers
this poorly painted are cheap to buy and a better paint job pays dividends

choose a breed, pick your colours

even this one step is better

I darkened the higher portions

left the eye socket and nose area and whitened underneath and lower legs

then dark brown / blackened the eye nose and hooves oh and tail

easy to see compared to to original paint job

More cows

A better model but still cows, these had a better paint job but I still went for more more flesh colour on the udders and face, more dirt and shadow under the belly, I should really add some dung lol




I added yellow ear tags too

as you can see these were superior anyway, wish I had bought more

now they are pretty small and I had to use a fine brush and a specialist small paint sponge, if the name comes to mind I’ll add it, and a couple of repaints in sone case eyes especially aligning was fun, luckily being short sighted meant I could peer in close

and then dot them around, the biggest problem is losing sight of them so I tended to make them a feature and ensure I photographed and recorded where the. Pesky items were

but they add some nice detailing


and a touch of realism


even getting these thin lines involved painting then over painting close once dry black white grey and transparent purple orange blue green, I was pretty chuffed with the result
