Hi all - my first post, so hello!

I'm here on behalf of the National Railway Museum as we gear up for the 40th anniversary "celebrations" of the last steam passenger service (May 24 - June 1).

As a taster I've uploaded some footage from the '15 Guineas Special' on 11 August 1968 to YouTube. For those that don't know (unlikely, I know) it was the last steam-hauled passenger service on British Railways and in the video we're travelling north from Dent station on the Settle-Carlisle railway.

The event itself will see the Oliver Cromwell visit the Museum and first hand accounts from people who witnessed this "end of steam". And as part of that we're asking for anyone to come forward who may have been involved with Oliver Cromwell and the 15 Guineas Special.

If you did, you're very welcome to contact Catherine Farrell at the NRM (Catherine.Farrell [AT] nrm.org.uk) about your memories of the day.

Some of the responses will be published at the time and some may end up in the event gallery itself...

If you've got any comments or queries then let me know or post them up on here - I'm also available via private message.

Thanks for the welcomes - much appreciated!

If anyone has any other memories (I wish I did but I was but a twinkle in my parents' (or the milkman's) eyes at that time!) then let me know; if there's any other videos or news then I'll post it up.
