Hi I have been looking at the 50113 ESU Mobile Control II Remote Control Set for ECoS and while it is quite expensive I would like to get some feedback from anyone who has taken the plunge with this unit.

I have one which I got back in August last year. I haven't used it a lot but here are my thoughts so far.

* It takes quite a while to charge up. I've found that an Amazon Kindle charger works well.
* I recommend that you set the screen timeout to the maximum possible. The default is quite short and there is a delay while you bring it back to life which is not good.
* It seems to retain its charge for some time.
* The case is poor compared to a phone but for the small volumes involved that's probably inevitable.
* It works a lot better than an app on my phone.
* The control knob is very comfortable to use and you don't need to look at it. This is possibly its strongest point.
* I use it in preference to the fixed controllers on my ECoS which is an original mono unit. I still get colour icons on the remote.

Do I regret buying it? No.

Like all controllers, it's a very personal thing. If you want a controller with no tether to become entangled in, and which you can drive without looking at it, it works very well.

Thank you David,

It is good to get some first hand user feedback...

I do already have the original wifi controller and while it works really well it is let down by the information on the display. Maybe i can sell the current wifi controller and board that i have ... i do really like the look of this new one.

How have you connected yours to the Ecos ?

My setup is as follows:

WiFi hotspot with a cable connection to the ECoS
Controller connects to the WiFi hotspot.

The information on the display is good and I get colour function icons even though my ECoS is mono.

All the locos you have controlled are available in a "ticker tape" strip widget towards the top of the display so changing loco is quite easy, although if I might not say that when I've been through my entire roster

Hi David,

Thanks for that my Mobile Control II has arrived this week while I was at work so will get my hands on it this weekend, can I ask does it auto copy over the loco images that I have loaded into the ECoS or will I have to force this ?

I'm not sure about user images but as my main unit is the original mono, I don't think my situation is quite the same as yours will be with the colour model.
