A$ double chimney

2475 Views 16 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  chriswright03
Help needed by anyone out there. Four of us from our model rail club have been to the York show today and whilst there we were looking for a double chimney for the A4 without success. Does anyone know who might be able to supply one? None of the traders had one or even could tell us where to source one. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Any chance you could contact your namesake Tony of Wolverhampton MRC and various other places. As he does a lot of LNER stuff he may point you in the right direction.

Regards Bizerba
i've no ideas if it will fit, but I think if you try hornby spares they have A4 chimneys, al- beit for the live steam model.
Chris,

Martin Finney advertises a 4mm kit for a double or single chimneyed A4 on his web site. He may sell you a chimney.

Thanks for that but can you send me the web address of the site as this link just brings up one page with no contact details. I can contact them then and ask the question. It is proving very difficult to source but thanks again for your help.

Hi there,
'
If you type in 'MARTIN FINNEY MODELS' in Yahoo or similar search, it brings up Martin Finney (certainly on Yahoo), click on that and Martins and Chris Wessons page, together with all the contact details!

Good luck - oh, by the way, it appears he does have Double Chimneys

Hi guys well that is another dead end as Martin Finney does not supply parts from his kits. Still worth a try so thanks anyway. The search goes on.

Have you tried a Hornby spare parts dealer?

Well I presume so because the guy who need the chimney is a Bachmann and Hornby dealer but I will ask him.......you never know sometimes we all miss the obvious.

Thanks Chris
Chris,

Might I suggest that the quickest and probably also the cheapest way to obtain A4 chimneys (both single and double) is to purchase an undecorated Hornby A4 body from East Kent Models or a n other dealer of Hornby spares, and then remove the chimney from the body. Failing that, a "scrap" 2nd hand model may be a good starting point. Depends on how desperate you are to obtain them.

Other places you could try are SE finecast as tehy produce a whitemetal A4 and Wessex Proscale as they have a brass A4 with a w/m chimney. Proscale are availaible through intercity models I think. They may be able to help you. The man who probably knows best about stuff like that is Dave Cleal at Mainly Trains. He has loads of bits and bobs availaible.
