A few people have suggested another group build, so here's what I'm suggesting

We take a basic Dapol kit like this:

http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/images/d...ached-house.jpg

and build it, no racing ahead just take the kit and we discuss a) how to build it, b)how to improve it, c) weathering and finishing, and possibly d) fitting into the landscape.

I picked the building above for two reasons, firstly it's a very simple kit, and secondly it's widely available.

So, who's going to join in?

Regards

Hey Dave,
Sounds like an idea - I "might" be in, partly depending on the lead time to start on this, I'll have to order one and get it sent over!
Will possibly provide an "excuse" to get a few things in an order...

Hi Dave, good idea. I can't promise I'll be able to keep up any specific pace but if you don't mind me dropping in and out as needed then I'm game.
I can't think of an immediate use for it once completed but I'm sure I can squeeze it in somewhere. If nothing else it will give me something to spray some paint at to get a bit of practice etc. Count me in, I'll try and pick a kit up later if I wake up in time to get to the shop.
When are you thinking of a rough start date?

Kind regards
Dave

QUOTE no racing ahead ................We all stay @ the same stage, of the build, then move on at the same time !........

The only way I can see this happening is, you buy 1 tube of Glue, and send to to each other by post.

By the way the pic. looks like a "Bako" build set...(1950/60's)...........no glue, are you cheating already.................

Oh ! it looks like the "Dave Club" already.

I've just got this mental image of the country being covered in the "string" from the glue as the tube goes from member to meber.........

Not quite - 3 x Daves, 2 x others !

Co'mon you non-Daves - don't let them take over.

Dam it, where's the other Dave's when you Ned them? Someone send up the Dave signal quick!
As to glue stringing the country I bet it was those non Dave's leaving the top off.... :) lol We could always get one kit between us and each glue a bit, post it on but with the way the post is for breaking things you'd never tell if the member before did it correct or not!

Kind regards
Dave

Hi guys,

I have no specific start date, let's get a few people on board first. Ian, get your kit and I'll wait for you.

As to this being a "Daves" thread if LF&T joins us that will raise the numbers.

Now the next bit could take some thinking about...

I do like Daves idea of posting the glue around the country, closely followed by Daves idea of sensing a single kit around - now that's what I call a group build.

Perhaps we could get the Dave channel to make a documentary!

Anyhow, any more takers?

Great stuff, got a good feeling about this. I managed to wake up in time and get to the shop. They even had a kit in the back so I've got it ready in my stash (where the wife won't spot it) and it's ready to go when Dave gives the word.
It's a good choice of kit by Dave, about £4, fairly clean lines without excessive flash, and mine looks in shape; unlike some dapol kits that warp in storage/sunlight. Of course we won't know the full story until we venture forth into the unknown lol

Kind regards
Dave

OK - mine shipped from Hattons today, supposed to be 5 business days to get here.
BUT, I'm still waiting my previous shipment of some Metcalfe buildings that shipped Feb. 4th., with the same delivery option.

Not Hattons fault for sure, but it highlights the pain of being an ocean away

HughOOh! I don't know, if there's non Daves getting involved, I'm not sure I'd want to sign up.
And anyway its got a hipped roof.

Can I build it as one of those 'modernistic' flat roofed white jobbies with Crittall windows? I'll bet there are a fair few in Margate.

I am really sorry about this but I had a premonition about this group build:

The fact that I am not named Dave and that I have already built the kit 53 years ago probably makes me ineligible. I will just have to sit this one out.

Best regards ............... Greyvoices (alias John)

Sorry, my names not Dave but it sounds like a bit of fun. It's been a while since I have built a kit. So count me in.

If truth be told I built my first one around 45 years ago

Good to see a couple more on board with this one.

You are quite welcome to modify the kit - just as long as you join in, the whole idea is to see how people approach things.

Incidentally I fully expect this thread to go off topic every so often....
