Hi all, some interesting thoughts and ideas so far.

Nick - I came up with the same answer, so I won't bother with a photo of that bit.

Stu - my floor plan is similar to yours, but I have gone for a door into the garage.

Keep the ideas coming.

Nick, I think you may have misread Brians post, BC is not a regular kit builder, and to be fair he's joining in.....any input he has must be accepted as valid.

I think the reference may be aimed at those who berate us "amateurs".

Anyhow let's put politics aside and see what we can do.

Don't Keith, I feel sure that you have plenty to impart. I have to admit I was also rather stunned to find a milling machine on the thread!

Richard, I wasn't condemning the use of a milling machine, it is, as you say, an individual approach. What stunned me was that anyone would actually think of using one! In that respect it is a positive.

I now look forward to how others attack the window issue, and I have to admit I had considered the use of files and abrasive papers to achieve a similar result.

I hope to get a few shots of my thinking up later in the week (fingers crossed.)

If one may weander (somewhere between wander and meander) back on to topic I've cleaned up the flash on mine and worked out the modifications that have to be made. Then I discovered I can't find my polystyrene adhesive. Doh!!

Still onward and upward as they say...

QUOTE (KGR @ 27 Feb 2013, 10:31) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Would it be easier to paint the windows before they are finaly attatched ?
I would imagine so - it would certainly be awkward if set back to paint them in situ.

Firstly to pick up on this post:

QUOTE (ste @ 27 Feb 2013, 21:18) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hello Is it to late for me to join this group build?
I think Nick has answered perfectly in my absence...I would just quote myself from a few days ago:

QUOTE (7113 @ 20 Feb 2013, 17:12) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Of course if anyone wants to join in late they are more than welcome.
So basically get a kit and join in!

Now to my thinking, I can't post piccies today, but I have made a major decision, the left hand wall will go on the right hand side, and vice versa. The small chimney stack is going completely, and the revised left hand side is going to have major surgery...like no longer an integral garage.

If you see what I mean.

Firstly welcome aboard ste, I look forward to seeing what you achieve.

Anyway, to business. First up tonight we have a very rare shot of BC making the shell of his house:

Luckily you can't see all the Faller liquid over his hands.....

Next the left wall of mine at the side(or wrong if you want):

I think that makes my earlier post clear!

Finally, a shot of the rough cut lines on the other wall:

Apologies for the quality, I didn't realise how bad this shot was....

The shaded part will be for the side door into the garage.

At some point I might show some of the rough sketches I've used in my planning.

I've also got to work out the other cuts yet, but that will be worked out as I go along.

Easy, I have a couple of Base toys trucks, as well as Jim S-W using them on many of his road vehicles.

Simples...

Nice to see some progress in places.

QUOTE (StuB @ 6 Mar 2013, 19:07) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Finally glued a few bits together. The grey is the original kit, the white is my changes.
There are some hints as to where this is going.
Some interesting mods there Stu, and some good work as well.

QUOTE (Ian Abel @ 6 Mar 2013, 22:02) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I looked at it and considered it was the rain-gutter/drainpipe, COMPLETELY FORGETTING the sewer main is OUTSIDE
To be honest I had completely forgotten the need for stench pipes externally - another mod for the list!...
