Many thanks for all the nonsense so far on this thread, hopefully it will throw up ideas for all to use. Perhaps at this point I should stress that the only real rule is we all start with the same kit. I know it's seriously awful, but that's the point, you know, silk purse from sows ear and that kind of thing...

Look if you want to add etched windows you can.

A fair point.

There's one that generally moves like he's stuck in first gear, but I'm glad to say that in this instance he's found 2nd

A point that has been sadly missed by some

OK,, let's get sensible, I meant that we all start with a kit from the same tool, if you lot want to send a tube of glue around the country/globe

that's up to you

Two of said kits were delivered to my parents* today, that is to say mine and Brians'. So who else has taken delivery of theirs?

*Their post is rather more reliable than mine!!(plus they're retired)

I will probably post the opening post of the building section of this tomorrow, won't actually be able to collect the kits until then due to other commitments.

I shall also get Brians' to him in the next couple of days.

Yay! I got mine yesterday. Amazing since I only ordered it from Hattons LAST THURSDAY!

Unfortunately, whilst I am pleased to be ready-to-go with this project, the order I placed for 2 x Metcalfe engine sheds and 1 x Metcalfe signal boxes, on Feb. 1st., STILL hasn't arrived.
Connected with Hattons, via their excellent "chat" tool online, and though they were extremely supporting/helpful, they can't place a claim into Royal Mail until 25 "working days" after the thing was shipped
so unless the order magically arrives on its own, I have to wait until MARCH 8th. before we can even begin to get it declared lost and re-shipped <sigh>.

(Sorry for the slightly off-topic, but was a frustration when I opened the box and found it to not be the original package I'd hoped for)
