Its called "Alex".

Saw it in one of the German forms. Saved me a lot of the trouble in keeping my rolling stock and loco's.
Ordered one from IKEA and mounted it in half an hour.
It has 6 drawers and fits perfectly under the layout. One drawer can take about 30 odd rolling stock unboxed.Its with wheels and easy to tuck it in anywhere that suits you.

Highly recommended

Thanks for the link Nick.

IMHO there's only one thing worse than looking for something in an Ikea store - & that's looking for it on their website !
(both cunningly planned to show you other things you did not realize you needed !)

I actually use something very similar during my day job - didn't know we shopped at IKEA!

That is good idea Erkut.But boxes will slightly damaged after.But,if you never gona sell them,than that is great idea.Much better than keep them on track,under layout in dust,or get risk get them damaged when will take them from shelf.

This also is very good stuff for railway models show,or exhibitions.Do not need put everything somewhere in banana box,or bag.Take this box,put in van,or car,and go to show or ehxibition.
Here is an alternative way by making racks with sponges;

I won't swear on it, but I think that is one of Märklin's umpteen limited edition tank cars.

- Frank.
they're a bit odd looking, like they have a postbox stuck on the back

what are they for, cement?

A bit of research showed that they are indeed Maerklin Carbide cars, no: 48250

Not odd looking at all if you are "into" things European - they are in fact brakeman's cabins.

I too, think that they are one of Marklin's many Ltd Editions.
