Sorry in advance, but I haven't got the hang of which suppliers do what......

I am in the process of converting two 'Flying Scotsman', but I need to get hold of Deflectors for the front and Double Chimneys, where do I get these from?

OO gauge.

I guess with the amount of views and no suggestions these cannot be bought. Will probably have to fabricate some myself.

What thickness brass sheet would be the correct one to use?

Cheers

Hi Capt Jack,

If you know the maker of the locos you wish to convert keep an eye open on ebay for deflectors ...... if such an item is/was available, as to thickness of brass sheet a trip to your local model shop may prove fruitful if they stock brass sheet such as the K&S range #258 005 sheet i find useful though modelling in OO it will possibly be too thin easy to work though at that thickness and cutting is easy with Xuron brass cutters.
Best way is to go and see whats available in sheet at your local shop or use plasticard easier to work detail and paint and the thickness's are better in scale.
Let us know how you go on.
I suspect this will not be very much use, as the proprietor of the establishment seems to have gone to ground and is proving very elusive to contact, and, it appears, slow to supply, but, to put the record slightly straighter, Puffers produce(d) the following detailing sets:

DK 32 LNER A3 Double Chimney Price £11.95

Parts Include : - Cast Double Chimney, banjo dome, fall plate, cab seats, cab window side valves, smoke box door handle ,Ross pop safety valve vacuum pipes, underslung steam heating lever, cab doors, handrail knobs (28),brake ejector, inside motion covers, Mudhole covers, etched lamp brackets, cab roof ventilator, front footsteps, superheater covers, front coupling striker plate, etched brass corridor tender spectacle surround and rear steps.

DK33 LNER A3 Double Chimney with "GERMAN STYLE or Wind Vane SMOKE DEFLECTORS" Price £11.95

Parts Include : As DK32 plus the Etched Smoke Deflector Plate and Wind Vane Smoke deflector plates

The RMWeb has extensive discussions regarding this supplier, which is a pity as his range was very extensive and useful.
I suspect that there are other sources - perhaps it would be worth contacting South East Finecast or Martin Finney as they both have an A3 in their ranges and they might have these parts available.
