Hi All.

This is a very long shot, but there is just a chance that someone can help.

I have an Arnold locomotive, catalogue number 2224 (produced 1980-1988), type BR89 tender locomotive. According to the markings on the side, the prototype's owners were BLE (Braunschweigische Landes-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft) and had running number '2'. It carries the name 'BRAUNSCHWEIG'. There is a website that lists all the BLE locos at http://www.lokomotive.de/lokomotivgeschich...ahnen/e_ble.htm. According to this site, loco number 2 was called GRAF GÖTZ WRISBERG (built 1886, end of life 1920) [Esslingen 1886/ 2148 - C n2t - 1435mm (Typ: MIII-4e(1)), Braunschweigische Landes-Eb. (BLE) 2 GRAF GÖTZ WRISBERG, +1920].

However, the loco named 'BRAUNSCHWEIG' was number 15. [Esslingen 1901/ 3164 - C n2t - 1435mm (Typ: MIII-4e(2)), Braunschweigische Landes-Eb. (BLE) 15 BRAUNSCHWEIG, ->'21 verk. (an ?), +N/K.]

So we have a conflict here between Arnold's name and number. Also, Arnold say that the prototype was built in 1878! This does not tie in with either of the above. Also, Arnold states that the loco is now in the Braunschweigische-Landes-Museums-Eisenbahn but the BLE website does not confirm this.

As I said, this is a very long shot, but there is just a chance that someone can help.

My apologies to the person who tried to access the above links. In the intervening years I have rationalised the structure of my site and moved all the N scale items into their own directory. Where possible I have added automatic redirects but this one got missed. The two addresses above have been replaced by:

The index accessing them is now http://trains.manvell.org.uk/n-scale/locos-de-steam-ep1.htm and the loco is the only one under "NIEDERSACHSEN (lower Saxony)", about a third of the way down the page.

As you can see, the mystery has still not been resolved.
