Some months back, I required and still do, a replacement trailer coach bogy for the Bachmann c158 2 car diesel unit.
I approached Bachmann Service Department, requesting a replacement bogy Ref: 500-123b. Bachmann service personnel informed me of Bachmann being unable to supply the replacement, as spares for this model were no longer currently available.
Having an interest in Bachmann c170-5 Turbostar Multiple Diesel Unit, I downloaded the Bachmann detailed spares list for this model. A careful study of drawings etc, reveals that the trailer coach bogy appears to be identical to the c158 though the spares reference number being different.
I gather from this exercise that Bachmann is not prepared to sell any spares that relates to another model. Should I again approach the Service Department and request that they supply me this time with a turbostar trailer coach bogy.

Spongebob - I will certainly try and approach Bachmann Spares section, however it will depend on Bachmann answering my request.
It would be a helpful gesture if the representative of this Forum could tackle the matter of spares with Bachmann.

The firms that you mention dealing in spares mostly in Hornby and Lima, having bought in bulk all surplus materials (spares) from these manufacturers who no longer produce that particular model(s) and therefore wish to clear from their shelves redundant production materials (spares).
As in this instance, Bachmann still produce many models that utilises materials that are also counted as spares for yester years models - making the required spares unavailable due to the said spares being required for todays model production.
In my requesting from Bachmann a bogy still in production, (refused to sell this bogy on the grounds all stock of this particular bogy being required for current production ((this reason being only assumed by me and not stated by Bachmann)).
