Bachman report that Research and Development work on the Branchline Standard 4MT 2-6-0 locomotives is now well advanced. These all new models are expected to be available during September 2007. Pictured above is an image of one of the latest engineering samples to arrive in the UK.

Initially, 4 versions will be available. 32-950 in BR Lined Black with early emblem and 32-951in BR Lined Black with late crest. Both of these locos are supplied with the larger BR1B Tender and feature lifting hooks on the cab. These are typical features of those locos used on the Southern Region.

32-952 and 32-953DC are both paired with a BR2 Tender. The latter loco being supplied with a DCC Decoder already installed. 32-952 depicts Loco number 76079 which is preserved and can be seen in regular use on East Lancs Railway.

But will 76079 come with the extra tender coal rails that Ian Riley has fitted?

A lovely looking model, would be a useful addition to the fleet.

Regards,

Dan
I have already reserved my 76079 at my local

Glad to see they will also be supplied with BR2 tender on initial release . There were lots more with BR2s than BR1s and this way anyone modelling the Scottish Region should be happy!

Just read on another forum that 76079 will be released with the "Ferret & Dartboard" (Later crest) not the early crest as used on the preserved 76079.

It'll be nice if the model is all cast metal rather than a cast frame with plastic boiler. I have a couple of DJH BR Std 4 2-6-0's and a couple of Bachmann US models with the cast boiler and these models can pull excellent loads when compared to their plastic boiler cousins. Still all that aside I'll proably get a couple.

Don't I know it. This is exactly why I prefer Trix and Brawa models, because of the cast metal chassis and body. The pulling power is excellent!
AS far as the bachmann pictures suggest, 76079 will be realeased with the late crest 'cycling lion'. However, at least at present 76079 is preserved with the early crest 'ferret and dartboard' which is the avatar up the page. I don't know if 76079 has ever run preserved with the late crest, so it looks like it might be modelled in service. That would be an 8G shedplate with no OHL stickers (again, based on logic rather than fact as it wasn't transferred to Wigan Spring Branch until the late '60's). In preservation it carries a 26D plate I think. However, it might be that Bachmann release it with the early crest after all? We'll wait and see I guess.
