Hi all
I posted this plea for help on another forum, but only managed one reply , which unfortunatly hasnt helped!
So, can anyone on here help please???

About six months ago my Bachmann WD 2-8-0 locos motor died (RIP), model No 32-256.
I contacted Bachmann service dept but none were in stock!
I've waited all this time and still none are in stock!

So, does anyone know where, other than from Bachmann, this Buhler motor with fitted worm can be obtained?
According to the service sheet its part No 330-004

Cheers

Seems strange that Bachmann can't help, I've known them to strip one out of another model for this sort of request. Have you just asked or have you actually put in an order for one? I would suggest that it would be sorted fairly quickly with an official order. Also ask their service dept. if the motor is common to any other loco as some chassis are available as spares and you might be able to sell on the block and wheels to recoup some of the cost.
The gear is probably specially made for them so you can scour the magazines for someone doing Bachmann spares or you might find a replacement chassis you can buy to take the motor from.
The WD comes with one of their in-house motors now. I would be inclined to try Andy Mullins' Branchlines http://branchlines.blogspot.com/ to see what he advises.

Copied below are the email replies from Bachmann SD. They just don't have any. Grrr !
I don't need a gear box, its just that the motor has a worm cog (gear) on the motors shaft, so I guess its supplied as a one piece bit of kit (Motor and worm cog)?

As Branchlines are only open on Wednesdays I have sent them an email request, I await their reply. - Thanks for the tip

First reply to me last November.... Thank you for your enquiry. At present we are out of stock of the motor for the WD: your request has been noted and we will contact you when they are received. Regards Richard Matthews Service Manager Bachmann Europe plc

Second reply this week..... Thank you for your enquiry. I'm sorry but they have yet to come in. I do know that the matter is being attended to and hopefully they will be available soon. Your request remains on our list

Latest.... Had an email reply from Branchlines Andrew Mullins within a few minutes of mine being sent.. They dont stock Buhler motors - stopped some two years ago apprently! However he gave me link to another stockest - Bancroft, who I have now emailed.
You might have to download a number of the service sheets from the Bachmann site and check which other locos have the parts. It is then a matter of getting on e bay and trying to get some loco spares. You need to kinda trawl through the e bay listings but the search facility is quite good. Bachmann locos (even the faulty ones) fetch a fair few euro (or sterling pounds).

Otherwise get onto the stockists as you are doing (but you will pay more)

Happy repairing (it's half the fun)

Basil
