The 24's are all wheel drive and pick-up. I share your sentiments regarding the quality of this drive arrangement, and believe it should be the basic standard for all bogie types. My return to the hobby was prompted by Bachmann arriving with 'something better' (nearly twenty years ago now) otherwise the US scene would have been the choice.
Have to say that once two axles on both bogies are driven it does not matter that much in terms of traction if there are 'idlers' on Co-Co types. I may well look to pick up a cheap or s/h first version Deltic if Bach decide to upgrade this model to all axles driven. Since it can already haul over 30 coaches at a scale 100mph in four axle drive form, that's good enough for me!
