Only speculation, but I read on another site that it was an ESU sound decoder. ESU may have been working on other projects with Bachmann too....

I asked Bachmann for details, but they will not confirm or deny any rumour as per their policy on such matters. They will have a working model on display at the British Toy Fair in January.

I'll wait for the Class 20 and when the Deltic comes along, I may get one too as they will run on my [mainly steam] layout.

The Class 66 is just too new.

Piemanlarger, the South West Digital decoder you talk of - is it basically a ESU LokSound 3 with British recordings programmed on to it?

What did the Class 20 sound like?
