Hi,
Back into model railways after about 20 year gap.
So, rapidly buying what i couldnt afford as a teenager!

Bachmann new to me, but I am impressed by their detail, motors, slow running etc.

Class 20s - great

Class 66 / 37s - no so great, they dont like even 2nd radius curves - now, Hornby Class 50, 59, 60 etc they take them all in their stride !

Does anyone else suffer from this problem ?

It does seem to me that in general flange depths have reduced since the 1980s - which seems to cause more derailments, but like I say, the larger Hornby locos all run the curves without any problem.

Guidance appreciated !

I have now replaced a section of the 2nd rad curve, and tidied up a bit.

The 66s will run round.

The 37 still wont.

All of them suffer over points [Hornby express] - whilst again, the Hornby Co Cos dont suffer.

Very frustrating ! I may end up selling the Bachmann stuff !

I have a 158 DMU which again is temperamental - but a great model.

I WILL PERSEVERE

Thanks v.much.

I will have a look - it has soured my railway revival to be honest.

You spend a load of money [3 by 66s, 3 by 37s] and you have difficulty running the things.

I've even gone to the lengths of replanning for a 3rd radius curve etc.

It also makes me wonder: when I was a kid from say 5-15 i didnt have these problems, and you can guarantee my track laying wasnt the best then - so, now I am nearer 40, you'd think it would be better!
