Could it be wiring snagging on the bogie when on or approaching full lock?
I had a Bachmann 57 derailing and found it to be the four wires which go to the front lighting
they are supposed to run parallel but one was crossing over the other which was fouling the bogie movement.
Another was a bachmann 66 which turned out to be the red/black pick up wires.
