Does any one know if the Bachman Ivatt Class 2 in Green was a limited edition? Hattons only seem to have the LMS version and apart from a weathered exclusive edition to the Signal Box I cannot find a late crest on any web sites.
The Bachmann 2007 catalogue makes no reference to this being a limited edition. It is a model of a loco preserved on the Great Central Railway at Loughborough which may have encouraged sales. It might be worth trying the GCR on www.gcrailway.co.uk - their shop might have some?

It may also be popular with modellers of lines (now closed) in North Wales. 46521 was based there for a while.

Peter,
I went looking for a black liveried Ivatt 2MT, but could only come away with a green one! As of 1100hrs today there is one green one in stock at Geoffrey Allison's of Worksop.
I am just running the loco under DC prior to putting a decoder in. It appears to be a very sweet beautifully balanced loco.
I note you are from Lusaka: I was in E.Africa for 12 years as a youngster, 1950-1962. I wonder how many more of us are to be found on this forum?
As of the date of this post, Bachmann's website shows all three variants of this loco are out of stock. There will of course be some left in the supply chain, ie sitting on shop shelves. My advice is if you want one and see one, buy it!

As Holt have debited my credit card I assume my green one is on its way and should hopefully arrive in 2 or 3 weeks time.
Hugh, There are a number of people in South Africa who contribute to this and other forums but as far as I am aware I am the only person in Zambia or for that matter any where else in Africa that contibutes to this forum, that does not mean to say that there are not others who are looking.

Hi Hugh and also Hi to Peter.
I was one also . I lived in Livingstone from 1956 to 1967, before that I was in Salisbury from 1952. Now I live in New Zealand.
As a youngster ( a spotting one -not a spotty one) I remember the Ivatt Class 2F ( as they were classified originally) when new . The first 5 were shedded at Bedford (15D) (6400/3) and Kettering (15B) (6401/2/4). I saw them all at either Kettering or Northampton( Castle) between 23rd December 1947 and 17th February1948.( I still have my "Locomotives of the LMS" sub-titled "Official Illustrated List of all LMS Locmotives Specially Arranged for Engine Spotters") I wonder how many more are still arround. The 1947 livery although not lined will always be my favourite. Regards to all. Tony Overton
