I contacted Bachmann spares direct, and was informed that spares for the Bachmann Class 158 23M DMU 2 coach diesel unit are unobtainable.
Part required is the complete bogy fitted on the Class 158 trailer coach, or part of the bogy - of the plastic moulding that the power pickups are secured too, both sides with a small self tapper screw.
It would be most appreciated that if anyone knows a source of supply, or have this part in excess to their requirements - please advise me.

Bachmann continue to make DMU's. Now I am not a DMU expert and this may be a daft question but is there not another DMU in the Bachmann range that has a similar type of fitting that could be used in combination with your defective bogie and a good dose of superglue to create a working look a like example?

It might be worthwhile browsing through the Bachmann service sheets on their website.

Gary, yes Bachmann service sheet E3150-4S0033 shows an exploded parts in detail - part 500-124 is for the powered coach, the trailer coach parts are not shown but part 500-124 is similar except the worm gear and drive assembly is not included or required on the trailer coach.
Bachmann service and spares section say no parts available, even though that I pointed out this information - further correspondence with Bachmann has proved a negative response.
A new Class 158 model has been scheduled for months and recent date now being February 2006. Class 158 promised in 2006 is identical to the present Class 158, only change being cosmetic - new colours for each region. I would think that spare parts are available, but kept for the production line.

It seems like an odd situation.

Bachmann produce new models but claim not to have spare parts for them?

Surely at the very least Bachmann UK could take one apart to create spares for the UK even if the Chinese masters are not prepared to supply spares.

That seems to be the solution.

If you still want spares for the class 158 there is someone on ebay selling a 2 car power and dummy chassis.I know it may be a bit extreme for one part to buy a virtually full loco but it would save the problem arising again.

Thank you for information and it certainly is an option - I would appreciate a further chance to obtain a replacement trailer coach bogy.
Present bogy during a solder job - solder iron accidently touched and melted the top part of the bogy. The bogy is still workable, only cosmetic damaged.
