The fitting of 21pin sockets instead of 8pin will probably evolve over time & when models are updated or newer versions come out.
It's really no big deal, provided that the outer packaging shows what is fitted & adaptor leads are available. Just one of the "benefits" of progress & at least for UK modellers in OO you don't also have a 6pin as well !
