I thought I might share the plan of my layout, which is 8' x 4' and is very much of the 1950s - in my case, perhaps appropriate, as I run vintage Hornby Dublo. Not for everyone, but it's giving me more enjoyment than anything else I've built in the past. It amuses the grandchildren too......

The inspiration (if that be the right word) is Plan 26 from the Hornby Dublo plans book of 1958. I did away with the gradient given that practically all my locomotives are at least 65 years old.......

Reminds me of when my brothers and I started out with an 8x4 sheet of chipboard for our Triang Hornby. We got a lot of fun out of it. I still like watching trains go round and round and ...
