Hi,Im currently building a Barrett 'Lady' loco.
Its a great kit but the instructions leave a bit to be desired? Also things have been changed without notification and sometimes a bit of a struggle finding the parts on the etched sheets.
The wheel counter weights are way to long,I assume I should cut where Ive marked it? Ive contacted Barretts bud had no reply about this.

I don't have experience of this kit but I have noticed that the size of balance weights vary across the three wheel sets of loco because the forces they are counter balancing are different for each axle. Therefore I would check to see if there is a smaller etch which would suit this wheel better.
If I had to shorten the etch, I would take equal amounts off each end so that the shape is still symmetrical across the centre line of the etch.

hi David,I checked that and there some smaller ones for the front axle but they are much smaller.
pic showing the difference in size and pic of instruction.
thanks

I see what you mean.
Comparing where the photo of where you have placed the larger etch on the wheel with the instructions I would move the etch one spoke clockwise and then see how it lines up.

Hi David,Here's picture with the etch moved forward. The last paragraph of the text explains why its different? Thanks.

That's interesting. The main driving wheel counterweights are meant to be offset. I had not expected that so the etch is the correct length, you just have to get the excess in the right place on each wheel.
