QUOTE (goedel @ 10 May 2008, 10:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'm looking foward to seeing it the flesh, well at least in digital photographs, as the prototype is so vibrantly coloured. We'll have to wait and see if the insulators on the roof need touching up. I have a pair of Fleischmann SBB Cargo Re 482s which really look 'the business' in double traction so I was sorely tempted by a pair of these from Minitrix, and of course at 100 euros you can get two for the price of one Fleischmann model...
(...in the end I decided to pass though as on the next page of the catalogue was the highly unlikely but wonderful ÖBB 1012
)
Got to agree about the 1012's Rupert. They were fine looking locos.

QUOTE (goedel @ 10 May 2008, 10:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>So any chance of a review then John when it arrives? I promise I'll do one for the 1012 when my head stops spinning...
Believe it or not I haven't actually ordered a 485.................YET

Assuming it runs as well as the Minitrix Re482 and they have done a reasonable paintjob I might well be tempted at a later date.

QUOTE (goedel @ 10 May 2008, 10:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>What sort of freight train would best match the BLS Re 485 from models available?
Although the 485's usually haul intermodals (including RoLas) they can be seen hauling most types of general merchandise. There are plenty of wagons in the recent Minitrix sets to make up a suitable train.

QUOTE (goedel @ 10 May 2008, 10:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I think there are some articulated container wagons on the way from Hobbytrain for the SBB / HUPAC / AAE (a quiet rolling stock hire company?), have you seen any of these in the flesh?
There are some strange blue coloured ones floating around I think

As far as I know it is the Sggmrss 90 and Sggrss 80 vehicles that are hired to the likes of HUPAC by AAE. Because the Hobbytrain container wagon is based on the Sggnos/Sggmrs/715/714 series which is considerably longer it looks like they could well be entering the realms of fantasy again.
I assume that the blue ones you refer are those belonging to Kombiwaggon (yet another subsidiary of DB). They are quite common but usually so dirty that they blend in with the more numerous grey wagons.

QUOTE (goedel @ 10 May 2008, 10:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Also some interesting wagons from Creanorm for Swiss modellers are on the way, I noticed available from Winco in the UK. Are they Swiss Post wagons?
http://www.winco.uk.com/creanorm.html
Yes Rupert they are the rather characteristic Swiss Post container wagons. For me these are one of the years highlights and I have space in my postal depot siding for at least five

Thanks for the Winco link. I have been looking for a non-Swiss stockist ever since I first saw the wagons advertised. I have not been having much luck with HM Customs recently and some of my Swiss purchases have been a bit on the expensive side to say the least.

As expected the insulators are moulded in red plastic and do need touching up to improve the models appearance.
What is surprising is that Minitrix have not given the Re485 windscreen a black surround and centre piller. Now you really will need a steady hand to touch that in.
Possibly a job for a black felt-tip pen.
