I've got a few Fleischmann bogie container wagons which I was never 100% happy with as the containers are poorly held in place by big pegs and never seem to seat firmly(http://www.fleischmann.de/images/products/big/8252.jpg). On this model (http://www.fleischmann.de/images/products/big/8250.jpg) the roof of the longer white container is slightly warped so it leaves a gap at one end when in place ruining the look). The other problem is that when you run the wagon with the container, this row of big pegs is still visible and looks unrealistic.

Yesterday I bought a minitrix version(from the Alpine set) and was surprised how good it was. The chassis is die cast so it doesn't flex and the containers are weighted and have very tiny pips which locate into the diecast chassis and doesn't leave an unrealistic gap as found with the fleischmann versions.

Hi Goedel,

yes, a local shop where I buy from had the Alpine set split and I picked up the container wagon (with two oil/gas tank type containers) for £19! Do you know which shops are selling them for £13 each in the UK? The packaging is really well done and Fleischmann should take note. I recently bought the Fleischmann 35 jahres Class 52 with 4 weathered tankers set and the loco arrived damaged partly I think to poor design of the box insert and not enough clearance in the box.

Do the Minitrix trailers lift out of those deep well cars?

thanks Simon

Ok, thanks for that info. It makes you wonder how Minitrix can do these for nearly half the price of the inferior Fleischmann version!

There are a few other sets of the trix.de online shop, one with 10 tank type container wagons which looks pretty good. You can see them here;

Out of interest, have you ever seen that transformer wagon with 32 axles in the flesh? (its 391mm in length , 62 metres in real life!)
