As Brian's had to cancel the running session this weekend and his meeting on 20th June because of problems with his house and his accident with his foot, I have offered to do June's meeting.

I wanted to tout opinion on whether it would be cool to run mainly modern DMU and EMU's. Every one usually runs steam, other than our resident diesel diehard Jeff, and wondered if this might be taboo. Any opinion would be appreciated as I like to get what I'm running sorted out before hand.

Now there's a good excuse to spend money ... I mean, treat yourself to a well-deserved new railway item, Paul.

I note that Howes have just got a consignment of ESU sound decoders in stock, so, with the brilliant exchange rate at the moment, that might be a good excuse for me to get the class 108 decoder for my new DMU!

Incidentally (just for the record), I can and do run steam, I just don't like taking them to other layouts because, almost invariably, I end up with bits falling off. Diesels seem to be a little more robust.

Because I'm so close to Neil, I can always run home to pick up any item I want to run!!!!!! That's for after we have worn out all of Neil's own diesels and MUs.

Just a thought, Neil, you could leave almost everyone else out if you specify electrics only!

I have just put decoders into two more electro-diesels, giving me three now with decoders - four left to do.

There will be a couple of electrics but I thought mainly modern DMU's and diesels, a few steam specials maybe. I can run my Kreigslok as there is a preserved example in the UK.

I just thought I'd get some opinion as I haven't seen anyone run modern stuff at a meeting before.

I will be interested to see if you got your Pendolino to work properly.

Hi Manfred,
yes and no. Because the motor is so weak It has to use a slope to get started. Once it has high forward momentum the motor will allow it to maintain that. It struggles with slow speed. I have weathered the entire nine coach set so it looks a hell of a better. It will be running on the 20th... I sincerely hope.
