Since I started this project I have been given an amazing variety of stuff by bemused friends and family, including:

Model people (welcome)
Some model buildings, including a very nice telephone box
A set of 1:76 1950s model cars (very welcome)

I think these kinds of accessories - people, sheep, trees and so on 'work' far better as presents than rolling stock or electrical gizmos.
