Have you tried getting a Bachmann OO one and washing it at the wrong temperature?

ok everyone, besides bloody crappy ebay, where would be the cheapest place to get a class 24 and 29 please ?
i know the class 29 has not been made for a while but there must be some second hand ones out there ?
