Stangely enough I always preferred them in their original form, having said that I would like an NSE version

QUOTE (DS239 @ 7 Nov 2008, 22:32) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Not strange at all Dave,I'm with you on this, having a bit of a soft spot for the original version after commuting to school on them for years. For me their essential character was totally destroyed by the re-building,although saying that,if travelling in a Refurbished CEP/VEP combination,I would always opt to ride in the CEP..

I know what you mean, I frequently used them in their original blue/grey both for school and pleasure (the spotting days - it was easy to get them all as most were based at Ramsgate!) I completely agree that the, for want of a better word, markoneness, totally disappeared on the rebuilding.

As for CEP/VEP combinations that was always CEP by preference.

As you say Dave the refurbs all appeared initially in blue /grey - nothing else, the originals only appearing in green or blue/grey.

Mind you a refurb in "JAffa Cake" would be nice.

Yup - that's pedantic, funnily enough I have photos of them like that as well, didn't really suit them though.

If you're going down the bashing line for the refurb you could do worse than buy a selection of old triang mark ones - they seem to be cheap enough on the trade stands at shows these days.
