Code 100 v Code 75 running test

We are having a debate over whether Code 75 track or Code 100 track should form the standard for the mainline of a UK module standard that is being formulated. An issue has been raised over the capabilities of older locomotives and rolling stock to run on Code 75 track and across the points. A simple test track was assembled with a single short point.

After the first loco test I decided to add some scenery to add interest to the pictures taken of various trains under test. See if you can spot your favourites and see if you can spot which trains are under test.

Much to my surprise the following long list will run on Code 75 track and points:-

Wrenn (all)
Hornby Dublo 2 rail (all)
Lima (most)
Mainline (all)
Airfix (all)
Bachmann (all)
Hornby (nearly all)
Trix 2 rail from late 1960's
Dapol

The following will not run on Code 75 track without modification:-

Triang 1950's and 1960's
Triang Hornby 1960's and early 1970's.
Hornby early 1970's and later coaches and wagons with square axles
Lima coaches and wagons with silver wheels having large flanges

Not tested:-

Heljan (should run)
Graham Farish OO (early doubtful. Later maybe)
Playcraft (very doubtful)
Replica (should run)

Is there anybody who wants to add anything to these findings?

It would be interesting to learn if the use of Code 75 diamond crossings and longer extended points with longer check rails would make any difference to the findings.

I'm quite surprised by the wide choice of stock that will run on code 75, Gary.
Does this list include coaches and rolling stock? I was always under the impression that Mainline and Airfix coaches were a problem, but admit to having no personal experience of these.
Thanks for the work involved and the useful info.

Mainline and Airfix are not a problem - I have lots of them.
Lima coaches and wagons are onlt a problem up to about 1995 - earlier than this had knife blade flanges which wouldn't run on code 75, but later ones are OK on code 75.

From my point of veiw the following should be added for testing ;

1970's Fleischmann, Roco & Trix/Hamo (the last one not so important).
The later models from these manufactures will probably be OK.

The focus was British outline. I don't personally have any continental stock however I would assume that it will all run on Code 75.

Coaches and wagons were tested for each of the British manufacturers given an "All" rating.

Well if someone can lend me some code 75 I'll gladly cover the continental side of things.

code 100 will always give a better range of possibilities but don't assume heljan will run i have a heljan western that derails on code 100 points !
I have recently completed 2 modules with code 75, large and medium radius Peco Electrofrog, having gone against advice from my local model shop to use code 100. I have run Heljan class 35, 45 and 52 with no problems, also (surprisingly from what I had read) Mainline, Airfix and Lima bogie Siphons !
