I assume you have different jigs for different V sizes?

I like your method of making the switch blade, its much easier than my own way of filing about with a fine file for hours on end

I used to have a board with all sorts of vees, but got rid of it once I got my vee jig. I wanted to do this point build from first principles because I'm rusty.

well, I am as tight as a gnats you-know-what, so any jigs I can make myself, that work (as yours clearly does) I do so...

With my layout being an awkward size, there are only a hand full of 'normal' points, mostly are very short (I cannot remember the type or number off the top of my head) or have many sections to them...

Two years late from your perspective, but now there is a RTR diesel available in P4, EM or OO; with promise of a developing range.

This was the surprise non-Warley launch of last weekend by 'Sutton Locomotive Works' of a class 24. Currently on offer to those who have previously purchased 'Rail Exclusive' product, but it sounds like more general sales will be entertained. Ths is to be a developing range. The principal is Philip Sutton of Rail Exclusive, and it appears that following the significant disagreement with Heljan some time past, that the decision was made to go about getting models manufactured directly, of which this is the first fruit.

Interesting thread and wonder how you have got on, also no hint of a gauge war bun fight which makes a nice change. Our layout is P4 but I am lucky, I just paint stuff the other person I work with does all the building and he enjoys making track the weirdo. We stick with C & L chairs but I have seen those fold up brass ones. Lovely detail but very fiddly and I would wonder if you could tell the difference. Would also reiterate what has been said, diesel/electric will be easier to convert simply because there are less wheels for a start no trucks and no cranks/pistons to mess about with. Also as said yes it's still 4mm scale so figures buildings etc the same. Opens up the wider question though as to what finescale actually is. Ask 5 different people and you will get 5 different answers with none of them being wrong - with the exception of just a conversion to P4 or EM isn't it - it's a much more nebulous thing that involves everything visible on the layout.
