Container Lift Terminal

Does anyone know where I can get a container lift in 00/H0, either ready made or in kit form. The best I have seen so far is made by Kibri but appears to be as rare as rocking horse manure. Heljan produce an impressive working lift but I am not prepared to layout nearly £400 for one. The alternative might be to scratch build one from plastic H section extrusion.

Try this guy on ebay Matthias 6685 and his shop Modelbau und Total Verrocktes. He does the Kibri and I have just ordered the unloading tractor. I am half way through building my container lift

Hi Brian,

I would say go for the Kibri one. Thats what I did after extensive searches in the market. The color(yellow) is a bit annoying but seemed to me the most prototypical compared with the others.

Heljan crane is state of the art, but as you say very expensive.

Then comes the Brawa one, operational, code is 1162, nearly half the price of Heljan.

Than there are the others, all for cosmetic purposes.

The Faller one, I would not touch.Too toy like

Volmer one, not so bad but was not up to my expectations but have a check.

Hope I have been useful, by the way you might also need one of these next to the crane:

cheers

I have assembled the Vollmer Container Crane. Not too bad when you want a "stationary" crane and with a bit of painting it comes out quite good.

Also have a look at the Walthers Cornerstone Mi-Jack Intermodal Translift Crane as well as the Walthers Cornerstone HO No 933-3109 Kalmar Container Crane (mentioned by Baykal). Both are available on e-bay.com

I have assembled both kits and they can be recommended for the container terminal scene. I know for sure that the Kalmar Crane is made by Kibri and suspect that the Mi-Jack crane might also be a Kibri product.

Kind regards.

Johan
Thanks to you all for the information. I found a Kibri Container lift on E Bay but the closing date is next week while I am on holiday. I had bid for one on the UK E Bay site last week but was outbid. I shall follow up your suggestions when I return.
