I have seen a very nice N Gauge layout with working container crane called I think Divorce Lane! The crane was modified from a continental kit and I remember one of the changes was lengthening the legs to accomodate 1:148 scale containers. I'm pretty sure the layout has featured in MR and I may have kept the article. I'll check tonight and get back to you on this.

Cheers

Dear All

Amazingly I did keep the article on Divorce Lane and even more amazingly managed to find it!

The working gantry crane was built from a Brawa kit and did have its legs lengthend to accomodate the large 1:148 containers from C-Rail. The containers themselves were also modified with a thin strip of plastikard along the top edge to enable the gripper arms to get a good hold.

The layout is really good and packs an awful lot into 30 inches x 30 inches.

Hope the above helps.

Go get em Tiger!

But seriously one thought I did have would be to use an electromagnet on the hoist. Seems a lot easier than doing something mechanical. Nice project though and with the new intermodal stuff coming from Dapol later this year an attractive one!

Cheers
