Following the discussion of continental magazines, I subscribe to MIBA (Miniaturbahnen) and enjoy it greatly. If anyone would like to have these magazines, perhaps a couple of months or so after they have appeared, I would be pleased to pass them on at no charge beyond the cost of stamps and envelopes. Send a PM if you are interested.
Incidentally enthusiasts of the MIBA will be sad to hear that Michael Meinhold, the former editor and later a leading contributor to the magazine, died at the beginning of January of pancreatic cancer. He was a few days short of his 62nd birthday. The current issue of the magazine carries an obituary. He had a vast fund of knowledge, particularly in the rather specialist area of the make-up of passenger trains, which is a complicated subject in Germany where until recently most express trains carried a variety of through coaches that were attached and detached along their journey. Meinhold's style was concise, amusing and self-deprecatory, qualities which are relatively infrequently found in German writing, and it is a great loss that we will not be able to enjoy it in the future.
