Dapol have surprised the N gauge modelling community in the last 24 hours with the release of the latest image of the brand new Class M7 Loco. The new model has a cab interior! There have been suggestions that this is simply not possible in such a small model and that Dapol are really planning to release an OO gauge example. There would be singing and dancing in the streets among OO gauge modellers from the South coast if this was the case as the long in the tooth and long out of production Tri-ang Hornby version is fetching record prices among collectors with good examples changing hands for £80 or more. However N gauge modellers can rest easy as this superb new model is truly for you. It will be released and offered for sale at the Warley Show at the NEC in December. Model Rail Forum will be providing full coverage of the Warley show.

Dapol have also revealed a 'secret' addition to their M7 model. If you look closely at the photos below you will see there is an NEM coupling pocket fitted at both ends. This is because Dapol have developed a decorative 'Chain / Shackle' fitting which can replace the standard Rapido coupling. In other words, keep the Rapido for actual coupling and then fit the 'chain' at the other end for added realism. Depending upon customer feedback it is Dapol's intention to make this 'chain method' standard on ALL their future Steam Locomotives.
