Hi.

Does anyone have experience running these coaches in 'O'? Although not yet a member of the 'O' gauge guild (but about to join), I believe that a member of that organization reviewed and highly recommended them. They are/will be more expensive than the Dapol Mk.1s., being brass rather than plastic, but are they accurate? As B.R. Southern green appeals, I wonder if the finish is glossy (too shiny). Not 100% certain, but I noted possible Darstaed coaches on a couple of layouts on 'Youtube' and they were very glossy finish?
Cheers

Hi Ed,

I am a recent convert to O scale after 50 odd years of OO modelling and at least I can now see the rolling stock etc! I purchased two of the Darstaed Mk1 coaches in SR green for my branch line layout a couple of weeks ago from Ellis Clark and I can confirm that they are a very acceptable satin finish. They are very well detailed internally as well as externally and have interior lighting and a working tail lamp on the brake coaches which can be switched on and off with a switch underneath the coaches. They are fitted with Kadee couplings as standard which is very useful as using three link couplings under the gangway connections would be difficult (to say the least)! I use three links on all my other stock and Ellis Clark very kindly fitted them on one end of each of the coaches, leaving the Kadees on the other end, so that I can couple them to my locos. They also run very well on the Peco track and points that I have used.

I hope that helps.

Richard
