Someone told me that the reason the wheels were painted red was because it was easier to see cracks. However if they normally looked like that then it wouldn't have made any difference.
Trix are doing a very nice weathered BR44 at the moment. Would be nice to get this weathering on a few others. I understand if you are in Germany (or elsewhere if you want to fork out for the postage) you can have them factory weather your model for you. The Big Boy I saw was an awesome job.
While we have some expert opinion on German steam locos I wanted to know is the difference between the Class 44 and 50 in that one has two cylinders and the other has three? They both look pretty similar visually and this is the only difference I can come up with. Although these are both 2-10-0's I figured you would probably know about these too.
